| CAPE PENINSULA TOUR |
|
Set against one of the world's best-known landmarks - Table Mountain - Cape Town is a heady mix of culture and nature. And nowhere is this more apparent than in the city centre itself. If you're interested in our history, visit the District Six Museum, the South African Museum, the Bo-Kaap Museum, the Jewish Museum or the Castle of Good Hope - all of which lie within a few city blocks of one another (you'll find various interesting museums and galleries lining Government Avenue and the Company Gardens at the top of Adderley Street). No one should miss a visit to Robben Island.
Today a World Heritage Site, it was once one of the most infamous of political prisons. And here's one of Cape Town's biggest surprises: even nature lovers will find much to enthrall in the city centre. Visit a world class aquarium at the V+A Waterfront, take a drive up Signal Hill or catch a cable car to the top of Table Mountain - and, if you're an experienced walker, tackle some challenging hikes on the Mountain itself.
Then there's the Peninsula Tour (essential scenic drive to Chapman's Peak, wild and windy Cape Point and those cute penguins at Simon's Town). The Winelands are also popular and nearby Spier´s range of attractions is also good for children (1 day). With so much to do - and such a beautiful setting in which to do it - we ask you: can any city in Africa - in the world - be more exciting than Cape Town?
